Sara Moncrieff - A Journey Through Self Love
If you walked into a room filled with strangers, chances are you would gravitate towards Sara Moncrieff. She has a very special type of energy that feels familiar, safe. It originates from her work as a radiant energy healer, shifter, and problem solver. She's a listener, a talk therapist, and meditation and yoga teacher. Although, it's hard to encompass everything she does because she views her cause as coming to life with love, and teaching people how to approach everything they do with love. Sitting with Sara is a life-affirming, life-altering experience. She's the type of person that unblocks patters in your brain, and, ultimately your life.
When did you become aware of your ability to heal people? Why did you choose to pursue this career?
I believe I was born with the ability to heal. It's a conscious decision to stay open to love. That is what 'healing' is all about. We've altered the meaning quite a bit in society. But love is healing.
CAN YOU EXPAND ON WHAT YOU DO?
I'm a co-creator and collaborator. I have a private healing practice where I teach meditation and intuitive trainings. There are so many different components to it that it makes it hard for me to define. It's hands on healing, channeling, clairvoyance. Even simple things like sitting with someone and listening and showing compassion. I help energy move through their body. I help people who need one thing and lead them to another. I hear what a person needs before I even speak to them. I like to find peace in the chaos. We've entered a world of chaos and allowed ourselves to be dragged into it. Part of what I do is knowing how to breathe. I do it and I teach it.
Why is that so important?
We all breathe. But I breathe consciously to keep things flowing, to keep moving where I am blocked and stuck. We all have blockages. So much of this has to do with being present in the moment and allowing energy to run through me rather then letting it sit on top of me like a weight. It's a huge challenge for me, (for all of us), but I know I have to keep letting go so I can deepen my relationship with my clients, and teach them what I am learning.
Besides that I breathe. I keep searching for truth by healing untruths that sit in my energetic body. I keep loving intensely. Also, I drink a A LOT of water.
HOW DID YOU COME TO BE WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
I took psychology in university and surprise surprise, I didn’t love it. I always felt like something was missing. I kept thinking, 'this is boring and I don't get it.' Then I started working at yoga studio near my university, and I met someone who told me about becoming a yoga teacher. I went to Bali to do just that. I was there for a year learning how to teach yoga in a way that was very extreme. It was a fast Vinyasa raising the fire in the body to purify it. I ended up moving to Toronto and I got a job at 889 Yoga moving from the front desk to the General Manager to finally being able to teach yoga and meditation. I shifted my focus from yoga to meditation to get into a more nuanced, subtle energy. Now I do workshops on meditation and I teach others how to meditate. I'm so interested in intuition and teaching people how to become intuitive. It's all there for us to be used.
what do people get out of your work?
I think healing is recognizing blind spots and blockages in places where people are stuck. Places they wouldn't be able to see because people are so focused on their own experience. It's aligning yourself with your soul. Connecting your body and mind together. We're whole when we heal from our traumas and wounds.
WHAT DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE LACKING TODAY?
How to truly love unconditionally. You can’t love anyone without loving yourself first. The things that stand out to me the most are compassion, patience and generosity. In order to be successful with the rules we’ve written in this society, we’ve had to compromise our humanity. We haven’t perfected the ‘being’ part of human being. Like compassion and generosity. You have to go on a journey to find out what your specific brand of love looks like. It's worth figuring out because it makes life easier. For example, a lot of people will dismiss themselves as an impatient person. But that's not true. They just haven't learned their style of patience yet. I aim to show people the limitation of the human mind so they can transcend it into their soul and spirit.
What is self love?
Self love. Wow it's a huge topic right now, but I will try to explain it as efficiently as possible. Self love is letting go of all fear, doubt, judgement, and insecurity. Self love is finding a pure connection to your soul. Self love is holding yourself as sacred. It's giving yourself what you need to fulfill your purpose here on this planet. Self love is staying open. Self love is embracing your creativity. Self love is flow.
A lot of people talk about 'purpose.' What is purpose?
I think it's in your everyday actions. We don’t need to complicate it anymore. You can get really distracted on finding a purpose that you're already living. Your purpose could just be enjoying your experiences and sharing them with others. Your purpose is what you want present with you in each moment. We’re so mission statement driven that people think a purpose is your mission statement. My purpose is to be loved and to give love. I think it's simple enough. I can bring it into each moment. I can recognize when I’m living it and when I’m not. When I’m resisting love and being loved, and both of those are really hard. Here's the thing. I tried to complicate my purpose. I would try to add things to the energy of love. But the more I did that, the further away I got from what I was capable of doing. I got too into my head. Remember something: There are things you’re guided to doing which help you towards what you’re supposed to be doing. Just let yourself be and as things come, do them.
THIS IS MY CURIOSITY SPEAKING. BUT I HAVE THE NEED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOUL, CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE UNIVERSE. CAN YOU DEFINE THOSE? OR DO THEY SIMPLY EXIST?
The Soul is the expression of your heart. It's our individual path or purpose in this lifetime.
Consciousness is more about the 'spirit.' Something greater than us. It's ever present. There’s a method to the madness. We could spend our entire lives trying to contemplate the big picture and what is out there. It’s the Universe or God or the Cosmos or whatever you want to call it.
Soul is our connection and our spirit and that’s connected to the consciousness.
What is your motto for life?
The vastness of LOVE is the essence of life. Keeping going deeper. If not now, when?
